Positive or negative marketing?

We've just had a call from a company offering £50 of vouchers from a well-known High Street store just for attending a holiday home promotion. But before we put the phone down, the caller hurriedly said, in the nicest possible way, they weren't selling timeshares, they weren't doing a hardsell, they just wanted 30 minutes of our time attending an event at a major football ground. Hmm….
